Hi my little Coffee Beans! How’s your week going so far? Do you know someone who is pregnant? Or maybe you are that someone who is pregnant. Either way this is probably the right post for you to read!
Today I’m going to share about all the things that helped me with my morning sickness. When I was 6 weeks 5 days pregnant I was actually hospitalized for extreme morning sickness causing bad dehydration. I had to get medication and fluids through an IV to help get me back to a semi normal state.
I’m so glad I chose to go to the hospital. After 3 days of puking up everything I tried to eat and one of those days throwing up even the water I tried to sip it was time that I sought out some help. I asked my ex boyfriends father to drive me to the hospital and my boyfriend came in with me but he didn’t wanna sit with me or be in the room with me when I talked to the doctor. He also sat far enough away from me that he couldn’t even see me while I sat in a chair continuing to put until the IV kicked in.
He missed out on our very first ultrasound and actually only ever came to two of the ultrasounds if that. But those are experiences that I will have in my heart and memory for a lifetime. My very first Ultrasound was at the hospital. They wanted to make sure everything was fine with our baby. And it was perfect. She was perfect and I got to see my daughter when she was just a very tiny heart in my uterus. I’ll never be able to forget the image of my 6week 5day ultrasound and I have this memory all to myself.
Needless to say I was alone for much of the pregnancy and first year of my daughters life. She’s now almost two and I thought a great way to reflect on my pregnancy was to think of all the tips and tricks I learned throughout my time being pregnant. Starting with the very first symptom I had! Morning Sickness.
Sour things really helped.
Watermelon Lemonade and regular lemonade watered down to make sure I was still getting good intake of water at the same time was a genius trick I learned.
Pickles oh my God were they ever good
I used to make pickle and cucumber salad for lunch almost every day for a month and oh my God I can almost taste the deliciousness now 🤤
Microwave popcorn doused in salt and vinegar seasoning so much so that you could smell the seasoning the second you walked into our large bedroom. Of you got any closer you’d start holding your breath, unless you’re me and eating the sh*t out of it.
Mint Candies are delicious help.
Protein Rich Foods like eggs and avacados really help. During my first trimester and the beginning of my second trimester my ex and I wer staying with his grandparents for a month and a half to two months. I was very fond of his grandmother and we had gotten very close. During this time she share lots of stories and tips with me. One of which was to eat an egg for breakfast after I’ve vomited and the protein would help. This was a life saving tip.
Ginger. I got these ginger chews from the organic section and I can’t stand ginger. I tried to but I just couldn’t do it.
Rest & Relax every moment every second you get a chance to. Nap like it’s nobody’s business.
Gravol also saved my life. I’d split the pill into 4’s and take it after I puked. I puked most frequently in the morning and because of the gravol I puked about once and hour until the afternoon so the quarters of gravel helped me rest in between.
Lots of water, always keep hydrated.
Don’t skip meals. I found it best to eat small but frequent meals.
A snack I loved was Cucumbers Melba Toast and Dill & Lemon Tuna.
Also the cucumber pickle salad like I mentioned earlier.👌
This is also the time to give into your cravings.
Avoid greasy foods as much as you can but if you’re hungry and you feel up to eating a specific thing than you go eat the thing girl whatever your heart desires you eat it because at least you’re able to eat something for the time being.
Stay sitting and try not to move around a lot. The motion can contribute to your morning sickness.
Fresh smells like fresh veggies or fresh flowers or fresh fruit help. Even fresh air! Breathing in stuffy stale air doesn’t help one bit.
Sleep as much as you can!!!!! I know I kinda hinted at this when I suggested you nap like it’s nobody’s business but im serious on this one. Your body is doing more work than a body builder lifting 300 pounds. You need all the rest you can get.
Before you know it your little bundle of joy will be here and I kid you not it will be a sleepless few years at least but the most enjoyable year’s you could ever imagine.
I hope these tips help you through this rough but exciting time in your life. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you and your families all the best.
